NEW HAVEN POLICE MAKE ARRESTS & SEIZE GUNS AND NARCOTICS IN THURSDAY OPERATION

(11/21/2008) NEW HAVEN- During a narcotics and firearm operation Thursday evening, the New Haven Police’s Gun Unit arrested 41-year-old Percel Boyd of West Haven and 36-year-old Derrick Bryant of Hamden. Both suspects were charged with Possession of narcotics, Possession of narcotics within 1500 feet of a school, Possession of narcotics with intent to sell and Possession of narcotics with intent to sell within 1500 feet of a school. Boyd and Bryant were standing outside of the home police had been investigating in the Newhallville neighborhood of the City when Officers arrived to execute a search warrant. Seized during the operation were: a shotgun, a revolver, ammunition, 47 plastic bags of crack cocaine packaged for distribution, cash and cell phones.

During the operation, Officer Charles Tyson sustained a non-life-threatening graze of a bullet to his wrist when his service weapon accidentally discharged as he attempted to force open the door to the residence. No additional injuries were sustained.
